The AATU's statement in support of Desirae Simmons

The Ann Arbor Tenants Union stands in full support of Desirae Simmons and opposes the recall campaign by Ypsilanti Forward.

Dez is a strong and consistent supporter of community activism, tenants’ rights, and affordable housing. Dez ran on a campaign of affordable housing and kept her word when she entered office — to the dismay of those opposed to a sustainable economy for all.

Analyses from What’s Left Ypsi have revealed that 89% of the recall campaign donors are landlords and 79% of recall campaign dollars came from landlords; the rest are other lobbyists including Republican disinformation campaign engineers like Public Square Productions. We stand against Ypsi elites, for Section 8 Housing, and for the community voices Dez has always championed.
